Most of my recipe inspiration these days comes from TikTok. I am on food TikTok, meaning my For You Page is often full of recipes to try, and restaurants to go to. This image is the cover of a video that recently appeared on my feed and I have been wanting to make it since. This is a grilled white pizza with lemon, garlic, and ricotta.
After watching good looking videos, I frequently go to the TikToker's page to gather the recipe. For this pizza, here is what's needed:
flatten and shape a pizza dough
mix about a cup of ricotta cheese with several squeeze's of lemon juice and 2-3 teaspoons garlic powder
put several scoops of the cheese mixture around the pizza dough
coat with olive oil
sprinkle chopped rosemary and grated mozzarella cheese
I normally pre-bake pizza crust before topping it. Since my home oven and grill do not reach the same temperature as real brick ovens, the extra time to pre-crisp is important. This is the only alteration I may do when making this pizza. Stay tuned for my version...
My mom and I made homemade pizzas and I chose the white one from my bucket list. It was a success! With a great garlic and herb taste, the olive oil helped keep the dough moist. It is crucial to lightly pour some over the pizza before popping it in the oven.
I learned some tips for next time:
Sprinkle more rosemary over the pizza (before baking it). This ingredient may seem unimportant, but it made the entire pie taste better and it balanced the ricotta.
Put fewer scoops of ricotta. I covered the entire pizza with it which was more than needed.
Use thinly sliced fresh mozzarella rather than shredded. I did this and the melt was perfect and gooey.
